UPDATE:  The base models are no longer free other then the Daz2 content link that gives you the Gen3 models.  However the Gen4 models are no longer free.  You can still get Victoria5 for free from 3DWorld magazine, as it offers such on their disk, you simply need to back order issue 153.  The Genesis model is free with the program, any version of Daz4 and they have now created morphs of the Gen4 and Gen3 to use on the Genesis figure so you can still have your old favorites.  In order to use these morphs you will need to purchase the head and body morph paks...some may consider this a bad idea, however, you only need to buy one head and one body pack for the Genesis model, you no longer need to buy separate morph paks for each models like you did in the past.  The one set covers all characters.  There is one exception, the creatures do need a separate morph pak and again you only need to buy this one for all creatures.

Daz has the main models being used.  You must be logged into your account at Daz in order to get these.  Once they are in your account, they will always be there in case you ever need to download them again.  Please remember the full potential of these models is with their morph packages which must be purchased.

If you are interested in the Gen 3 models of Victoria, Michael, Aiko and Hiro, you can still get them for free at this download site, again I would suggest not waiting to grab them as this could disappear sometime in the future.

Hiro and David are now morphs for Michael 4, they are no longer separate models.  The Girl, Aiko and Stephanie are also morphs off of Victoria 4 and no longer separate models.  Soon there is to be a Generation 5 set of models or as they put it a Genesis figure which will be just one model that can morph into all other models, and as yet I do not know what will be free and what you need to pay for, I would suggest not waiting to get the free one's as you never know when they will disappear.  Once you have them in your account however, they will always be there for you.

Daz Studio Genesis and Victoria 5

***NOTE...THE DAZ 4.5 PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE FOR AN UNDETERMINED TIME ALONG WITH BYCE 7 PRO AND HEXAGON 2.5

GENESIS IS FREE WITH THE PROGRAM AND CARRIES ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF MORPHS, YOU STILL HAVE TO BUY THE MORPH PAKS.

BRYCE 7 PRO AND HEXAGON 2.5 ARE NO LONGER FREE, HOWEVER THEY ARE FOR SALE AT A LOWER PRICE THEN PREVIOUS VERSIONS FOR ONLY $19.95 EACH

Now that Daz has a new Daz Studio 4 out with three different versions of it, one is free for now so grab it quickly, one is a middle of the road and then there is the pro version that will cost you several hundred dollars, unless you are upgrading from Daz3 in which case you pay a smaller amount.
Daz4 uses Genesis which is a base figure and all other figures are morphs of that figure, you have to buy the morph package and then the morphs of the people you want. You can still get the older programs, but you will have to hunt them down and they tend to only come with Victoria4 and some other content. I will see what links I can get for these older programs and the content you can use.

An added advantage for Genesis is that you can now get the morph packages to turn Genesis into the Gen4 and Gen3 shapes, allowing you to use most of the previous bought clothing and accessories items many people have collected over time. They will fit the free stuff as well. This way you do not need to buy all new clothing and items for use with Genesis as you did with previous new models.

They now have items you can buy so that you can use poses made for previous versions on Genesis. They also have the DSON for those who want to use Genesis and it's items in Poser. The new Daz program has an option to use the uvmaps of previous models so you can added the textures of characters to Genesis, though I am not sure if the morphs from character packages of these previous models will work as well.

and

have both created morphs for Genesis that can give you a wide variety of freedom in making characters.
